What is the Moe-kib?
A Procession of Remembrance
The Moe-kib (Arabic: الموكب) is a traditional Muharram procession a sacred tradition observed by Muslims around the world to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein ibn Ali (AS) on the Day of Ashura.
The Voice of Lady Zainab Foundation brings this tradition to Vermont each year, creating a space for the community to gather, remember, and recommit to the values of justice and truth that define Karbala's eternal message.
The procession includes prayers, eulogies (latmiyas), symbolic imagery, and the shared spirit of Hussain's companions who stood for what was right even at the greatest cost.
